Nanovor Momentum Builds for Holiday Shopping with Release at Retail, Including Best Buy, Target, Toys 'R Us and Amazon.com

BELLEVUE, Wash. - October 5, 2009 - Smith & Tinker®, a company reinventing play for the connected generation, today announced the release of the Nanovor handheld digital gaming device, the Nanoscope™. The Nanoscope, which hits store retail shelves nationwide this week, completes the Nanovor hybrid gaming platform connecting online digital entertainment with offline, social play. Nanovor Solo Battle training cartridges are also available at retail, alongside the Nanoscope. Last week, Wizard Entertainment's Fun Fare Magazine announced that Nanovor and the Nanoscope have been included as one of its top toy picks for 2009 Holiday Hot Dozen, the most notable toy list of the holiday season.

Nanovor was launched online on August 3, bringing the free-to-play Online Battle Game for PC to market at www.nanovor.com. Complemented by online and TV advertising, Nanovor has gained rapid adoption with kids, especially 7-12-year-old boys. Now, the Nanoscope extends the battle offline, allowing players to connect up to four handhelds for head-to-head combat with friends. Monsters literally jump between Nanoscope devices during battle and play thousands of combat animations.

In addition, the Nanoscope offers two exclusive ways to play solo and train your Nanovor to be stronger, faster, and more powerful. Four arcade-style mini-games are included for free with the Nanoscope, while Solo Battle cartridges allow kids to practice their battle strategies against pre-loaded Nanovor swarms in single player battles.

Providing the first truly connected play experience, Nanovor lets players download their collection of monsters from the Online Battle Game onto the Nanoscope via a USB connection, allowing them to take the battle offline, anywhere. Everything players do on the Nanoscope is connected back to the online game, establishing character persistence and an unbroken circle of play.

Ultimately, the Nanoscope is the one of the most high-tech products on the toy aisle, delivering unprecedented connected play that combines the best elements of digital entertainment and offline social interaction.

"We've already seen significant interest and adoption among our target audience for the Nanovor Online Battle Game," said Jordan Weisman, founder and CEO of Smith & Tinker. "The release of the Nanoscope will bring our vision for Nanovor to life, giving kids an immersive game and story that seamlessly connects online and face-to-face play into one cohesive experience unlike anything else available online or in the toy aisle. The cool graphics, awesome battle animations and social play pattern are all part of how the Nanoscope enriches and completes the Nanovor experience."

While the battling monster game is at the heart of Nanovor, the property and its science based-story has grabbed kids imaginations. Using a "transmedia" story telling approach, which Weisman pioneered at 42 Entertainment and with his co-written NY Times best-selling novel "Cathy's Book," the Nanovor story incorporates secret Web sites, hidden unlock codes, and active email addresses and phone numbers that encourage players to discover the Nanovor fiction and become immersed in the content in unexpected ways. Additionally, Nanovor includes numerous forms of entertainment for kids including animated webisodes – 14 of which have been released online to date, with new episodes releasing every Friday afternoon. A graphic novel and Nanovor Field Guide will be released throughout 2009. To view the first available Nanovor webisodes, visit www.nanovor.com/videos/.

To explore the world of Nanovor and begin playing, visit www.nanovor.com, or pick up a Nanoscope at a major retailer near you. The Nanoscope has a suggested retail price of $49.99, and Solo Battle cartridges are $7.99. Kids can purchase Nanocash, the game's virtual currency used to buy more monsters, online or as pre-gift cards at select retailers.
