Jordan Weisman Recognized for his Continued Innovation in Entertainment Technology

SEATTLE - October 22, 2009 - Smith & Tinker®, a company reinventing play for the connected generation, today announced the company's CEO and co-founder, Jordan Weisman, was named as a 2009 Top 25 Innovator & Entrepreneur by Seattle Business magazine. The awards program recognizes Seattle's most creative and innovative business entrepreneurs who are making names for themselves in areas ranging from technology to consumer goods. The magazine honored its 2009 Innovators last night during an awards ceremony at the Space Needle in Seattle.

"The Seattle area has long been known as a hotbed for technology innovation across many industries, and especially in gaming," said Jordan Weisman, CEO and co-founder of Smith & Tinker. "I am honored by this recognition and credit Seattle Business magazine for its support and encouragement of entrepreneurs in the Northwest."

Jordan Weisman has enjoyed a distinguished career in the entertainment world serving as the driving force behind the founding and success of companies including: FASA Corporation, Virtual World Entertainment (acquired by the Disney Family in 1992), FASA Interactive (acquired by Microsoft in 1999), WizKids (acquired TOPPS in 2004) and 42 Entertainment. Weisman's creation at FASA Interactive, MechWarrior is one of the top selling PC games of all times with sales over 9 million worldwide. Weisman is an entertainment industry luminary who was inducted into the Game Designer's Hall of Fame by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design. Additionally, Weisman is an adjunct professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and at the University of Washington's College of Computer Science and Engineering.

According to Seattle Business magazine, "Smith & Tinker is a pioneer in merging the best of a game studio, entertainment shop and toy company, bringing the element of human contact back into the realm of digital games." Smith & Tinker's first product, Nanovor, is a digital battling monster game that combines the strategy of a collectible card game with the appeal of a multiplayer online game. Providing the first truly connected play experience, Nanovor lets players download their collection of monsters from the Online Battle Game onto the Nanoscope, a high tech handheld device via a USB connection, allowing them to take the battle offline, anywhere. Everything players do on the Nanoscope is connected back to the online game, establishing character persistence and an unbroken circle of play.

More than 125 companies were nominated this year for the Top 25 Innovators & Entrepreneurs Awards. The winners were chosen by an advisory board comprised of Michael Butler (CEO, Cascadia Capital), Greg Gottesman (Managing Director, Madrona Venture Group), Len Jessup (Director, Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, Washington State University), Connie Bourassa-Shaw (Director, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), Ed Lazowska (Bill and Melinda Gates Chair, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Washington), Gary Tomlinson (Executive Director, Seed Intellectual Property Law Group), Ken Myer (CEO, Washington Technology Industry Association), Rebecca Lovell (Executive Director, Northwest Entrepreneur Network) and Kim Zentz (Executive Director, SIRTI).
