Thomasin sat at the edge of the bunk while Alexis nestled into Sophie’s arms, wishing they had time to “couple,” as the Clans called it.
Coupling hadn’t necessarily been encouraged or discouraged. The Den Mother and the other Ursari treated it as sort of a given. They were all given medication to prevent reproduction just in case their particular pairings made that a possibility, which wasn’t always the case. No matter how much Sophie and Alexis coupled, there was no chance of reproducing. And no matter how many times Thomasin had spent coupling with any of their male sibmates, they weren’t going to reproduce, either. The Ursari didn’t care who the sibkin made their connections with, because that togetherness made them all feel safe and taken care of as they found some comfort in each other’s arms.
