Rescuers Uncover Chancellor's Bunker

We have today uncovered evidence that the Chancellor's protective bunker beneath the Celestial Palace within the Forbidden City may have survived the cowardly bombardment that destroyed much of the ancient city!

Weeks after the brazen attack that left thousands of citizens dead, tireless volunteers were still clearing away the palace rubble this morning when a shocking discovery was made. The heavily fortified vault, while damaged, appeared to be mostly in tact, and in fact turned out to be one of the secret entryway to the Chancellor's bunkers. Emergency crews, culled from the Third Canopian Fusiliers and elements of the Chancellor's Death Commandos, were called in immediately to help clearing away the debris, in hopes of reaching the bunker itself.

"It's not unlikely," said Professor Ram Gottleib of Sian University, a respected member of the engineering faculty. "Most military bunkers are constructed to be multi-redundant, and while no one except the Word of Blake and the hated Davions have used orbital bombardment in some time, military engineers never stop planning for the worst."

The office of the Strategios issued no formal statement, but we have learned that several senior Capellan officials, including Strategic Military Director Talon Zahn, have been seen near the rescue site. With the presence of the Third Canopian Fusiliers, it can safely be assumed that Canopian heiress Naomi Centrella, a longtime friend of the Chancellor, is following developments closely.
